Chart navigation and Weather GRIB in Pixar way

Weather4D Android is the first application of navigation and weather to use the power of the GPU to animate weather forecasts as a video. 3D display is complemented by continuous temporal scrolling which allows to perfectly view the upcoming weather trends. Auto-scrolling can be accelerated or slowed down, done manually forward or backwards in time with finger swipe, or by time steps with taps on icons “next/previous”. Weather4D Android is a user-friendly and very easy to use navigation application. It relies on weather forecasts highly accurate developed for professional use worldwide. It is intended for demanding navigators.


Basic free application is limited with GFS global forecast model up to 8 days. The subscription (10€ per year with a trial period of 7 days) to access high resolution models up to 96 hours, ocean wave models (FNMOC WWW3) and global currents (MyOcean). The geographical areas for request are fully designed by the user and without limitation. A wide choice of settings is available :

  • Wind at 10 meters above the ground
  • Gusts
  • Atmospheric pressure
  • Precipitation (Rain & Snow)
  • Cloud cover
  • Air temperature
  • CAPE (Measure of the thunderstorm potential)
  • Waves (Height, period and direction)
  • Current tide and ocean currents

The data come such layers overlayed can be assembled at will, each of them benefiting from fine adjustments to adapt the readability the user needs : display mode, transparency level, types of symbols, aso. In addition, a target can be activated and placed by sliding on a location to display in a window the evolution data for that place. A mode “full screen” allows to use the entire surface of the screen.


Weather4D Android offers navigation features based on raster charting provided by international official hydrographic services. Charts comes with an annual subscription by Publisher (SHOM, UKHO, BSH, NOAA, aso) can store up to 2 GB of cartographic data for use without internet. The screen can be divided into two windows, linked (on the same scale) or unlinked (different scales). This allows several combinations of display for navigation and weather. The application displays the position of the vessel, and course information, route and speed over ground, and a circle window displaying apparent wind angle. You can create waypoints and routes, and activate the Goto function. The application supports TCP/IP interface allowing to receive via Wi-Fi the on-board instrumentation NMEA data and display it in the application. It can control the autopilot if the boat is equipped with an appropriate gateway.
